1. APPLE EXPLORES MORE CHIP SUPPLIERS  

The iPhone maker is testing sample NAND flash memory chips made by Hubei-based Yangtze Memory Technologies Co. Apple Inc is exploring new sources of the memory chips that go into iPhones, including its first Chinese producer of the critical component, after a disruption at a key Japanese partner (Kioxia) exposed the risks to its global supply.

2. DA NANG GOVERNMENT ASKING FOR INVESTMENT FROM SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS

At the end of last year, Samsung Electronics’ investment in Vietnam reached US$1.8 billion, making it the largest foreign investor in Vietnam. Samsung Electronics is making large facility investments in Pyeongtaek, South Korea and Taylor, Texas so everything is still up in the air as to the requests for investment from Da Nang.

3. SAMSUNG'S SECOND NAND FLASH FAB IN XI'AN COMPLETES EXPANSION

Samsung Electronics recently completed the expansion of its second NAND flash memory fab in Xi'an, China, and started full production. With the two fabs combined, Samsung's monthly production of NAND flash memory at its Xi'an fabs reached 250,000, accounting for more than 40% of Samsung's total NAND flash memory production.
